Cruisin is the family-owned operator at the full-bathroom motorhome end of this market: founded in Tasmania in 1999 by Dennis and Tina Lucas, still privately held, and publishing a fleet-age ceiling of four years, two for the Deluxe models.
The cost is reach and timing rather than equipment. There is no Adelaide or Darwin depot, every mainland branch closes on Sundays, the shortest hire is five days and seven from Perth, and nothing in the fleet may leave sealed roads.
A published fleet-age ceiling
The company keeps every vehicle under four years old and the two Deluxe models under two, stated on its own vehicle pages.
Bathrooms on seven of eight
Every model except the 2 Berth Hi Top carries an onboard shower and cassette toilet with hot and cold water.
Bedding and extra drivers included
Beds are made up per berth with linen and towels, kilometres are unlimited, and extra-driver fees are included for up to three drivers.
Tasmania is home ground
Founded in Tasmania, with the head office beside the Hobart branch — a pickup city this site's live search does not yet price.
Things to Know Before You Book
The bond is a charge, not a hold
Under the terms effective 1 April 2026, standard cover leaves you liable for A$5,000 per claim, with a A$5,000 bond debited — not held — to a physical credit card at pickup. A surcharge of 2.15 per cent on Visa or 2.18 on Mastercard applies, and refunds can take up to 14 working days.
The Liability Reduction Option at A$45 a day removes both the liability and the bond, and the A$55-a-day Maximum Cover Package adds what neither lower tier includes: windscreen, tyre, single-vehicle rollover, overhead and underbody damage. A A$75 administration fee applies per claim, payable when the accident is reported rather than at return.
Check what your cover tier still excludes
Awning, water and salt damage sit outside every tier, and only Maximum Cover picks up overhead, underbody, windscreen and tyres.
Sundays and holidays shape the itinerary
Every mainland branch runs 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays and 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, closes on Sundays, and asks you to arrive an hour before closing time; Hobart opens Sundays outside 1 May to 31 August. Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year's Day close every branch.
There is no after-hours pickup. A Sunday return can be arranged as an unmanned key-drop between 08:00 and 15:30, and an unauthorised late return costs A$150 a day on top of the daily rate. Booking takes a A$300 deposit, and no branch accepts cash.
Five-day floors, and long one-way minimums
The shortest hire is five days everywhere except Perth, which takes seven. Between 26 December and 6 January the floor is ten days at every branch, event weeks such as the Bathurst 1000, the Melbourne MotoGP and the Gympie Muster take ten, and Hobart holds seven through January and February.
One-way hires add a A$165 fee and route minimums of ten to twenty-one days rather than five — fourteen on most routes touching Cairns or Hobart, twenty-one for anything involving Perth. Days are billed per calendar day, so the pickup day and the return day both count.
Sealed roads, powered sites, no pets
Every vehicle is restricted to sealed roads, with one exception: well-maintained access roads of less than twelve kilometres to a recognised campground. There is no 4WD in the fleet and no paid route around the rule, so an unsealed leg means a different company.
Living-area heating and air-conditioning run on a 240 V powered site only — off-grid, a 160 W solar panel keeps the 12 V system and fridge going, and a fan is the only cooling. Animals other than service dogs are not permitted in any vehicle.
The Fleet at a Glance
Eight automatic diesels separated by three questions: whether the bathroom travels with you, how many berths the trip needs, and whether the Deluxe premium buys a newer vehicle.
Two people, deciding on a bathroom
2 Berth Hi Top · 2 Berth Rover · 2 Berth Sandpiper
The Hi Top is the cheapest way in and the only model with no shower or toilet; the Rover and Sandpiper carry both, with hot water.
Families sizing between four and six berths
Adventurer · Seeker · Discovery
Fiat Ducato motorhomes under four years old with shower, toilet and a full kitchen. The six-berth Discovery adds sleeping space, not equipment.
Anyone paying for the newest vehicle
4 Berth Deluxe · 6 Berth Deluxe
The two Deluxe models stay under two years old, against four for the rest, with the same bathroom and kitchen either way.
A booking reserves a category, never a specific vehicle — Cruisin advises booking ferries and campsites for a 7.3 metre vehicle in case of an upgrade.
What Reviewers Actually Say
4.6
Google · 3,958 reviews
A review-count-weighted average across all six Australian depot listings, read in August 2026. Hobart, the home depot and by far the largest sample at 1,422 reviews, sits exactly on the combined figure; Brisbane is lowest at 4.4 and Perth highest at 4.8.
4.8
Trustpilot · 1,317 reviews
A single Australia-wide listing, claimed since April 2016 and on a paid subscription, though Trustpilot records no recent history of inviting reviews. Eighty-six per cent of entries are five-star and five per cent one-star, with almost nothing in between.
Two platforms telling the same story
The two figures sit closer together than for almost any other operator in this market, and they praise the same things: an unhurried handover, and vehicles clean and new enough to match the published fleet-age policy. Both samples are genuinely Australian, because the company operates nowhere else.
That agreement is evidence about the ordinary trip — collection, the vehicle on day one, the return. It says less about the trip where something breaks, which is where the negative record concentrates and why it is worth reading separately.
What the one-star tail keeps repeating
Across 65 of the 70 one-star entries, written 2018 to 2026, two subjects dominate: a mid-trip vehicle fault and how it was handled afterwards, and money moving back — slow bond refunds and disputed post-trip damage charges, several involving the awning that no cover tier includes.
Five per cent of a large sample is a thin tail rather than a pattern, but it is actionable: photograph the vehicle at handover, report faults through the roadside line at once, and choose a cover tier knowing Trustpilot records the company replying to seven per cent of negative reviews.
